WELCOME, and thanks for checking out my punk rock flyer archive. I've been collecting flyers for over 20 years, and I've scanned every one I could find for use on this page. Right now, there are a total of 422 flyers on this web site! Most of these flyers are from shows in the Lawrence/Kansas City area, or area bands that have played in other parts of the country. Before you start checking out the flyers, take the following guidelines under consideration:
- Although I call it the "Punk Rock Flyer Archive", not all the bands in this archive can be classified as "punk". If you are perturbed that a non-punk band's flyer is here, relax. It's my archive, and my rules apply.
- All flyers are presented at 100% size. Some of them are pretty big, which means file sizes are quite big. However the largest flyer is 284 KB in size, so download will never be too painful.
- Flyers have been optimized for quick download--most are saved in 4-8 color interlaced GIF format. That greatly reduces the file size, and also takes out imperfections (wrinkles, tape gum, staple holes) in most cases. I spent some time working with each image, trying to get the best possible image at the lowest file size.
- There's a few JPEG's of flyers here, generally if a flyer is of "photographic" quality it's a JPEG. All JPEG's are presented in the "progressive" format. If you can't view them, update your browser or computer.
- The links you have already visited will be red--the links you haven't checked out will be green. Just think of the "traffic-light" concept, green means go!
- Quality of artwork is not taken into consideration--there are some crappy flyers here. But overall, most all flyers are interesting to look at--even the bad ones. These flyers are presented from a historical perspective. I encourage you to look at as many flyers as you can.
Very special thanks to John Harper, Jason Willis, Bill Rich, Rob Klotz, Gil Bavel, Aaron Strelow, and Mark Gilman for their contributions to this archive. If you have any Lawrence/KC area-based flyers and would like to contribute to the archive, drop me a line. Without any further ado.....
